Kai Kresse has accepted a fellowship for the month of September 2026 at the University of Hildesheim’s Institute of Advanced Study with a focus on ‘Philosophizing in a Globalized World’.

Building on his previous work as exemplified in his two monographs ‘Philosophizing in Mombasa’ (2007) and ‘Swahili Muslim Publics and Postcolonial Experience’ (2018, recently published in Swahili translation in Dar es Salaam), Kresse will explore and discuss case studies of relevant Swahili thinkers and genres of philosophical texts, seen within their social and historical contexts.
